I think you can imagine how much sewing this coat was tiring if you read my former post about how to finish seams and I always had bad stiff shoulders while I was working on it... The material is wool 70%, cashmere 30%, double-faced fabric. The coat is half-lined so it's easier to put on/off. I also made a yoke seamed wrap skirt with the left-over. This is self-drafted one-piece type of shawl collared pattern, which means the collar is set in the front bodice. The neckline looked fine when basting and fitting on but I should have added a dart at the SNP. Then the neckline would look more natural with gentle curve. Anyway I'm now free from the physical stress and don't want to make any double face garments anytime soon. But next winter, I will probably make something else because I have bought two more double faced fabrics.

Double Face Coat

Utter perfection! The collar is great which is especially visible in the last photo.
ReplyDeleteGreetings from freezing Poland :)
J
Thank you, J! I'm now following your blog :)
DeleteStunning, absolutely stunning.
ReplyDeleteMany many thanks, Ruth!
Delete
DeleteGreat job on the collar! It looks great

ReplyDeleteThank you, Salma! So glad to hear you say so :)
DeleteI think it looks amazing! You are so good at sewing! I have just read a couple of years worth of posts. I think I almost read them all! Great work and great style!
ReplyDeleteWow, thank you so much for spending your time to read my past posts. I just visited your blog as well. Thought I can't understand your language, I see that you are a talented tailor. So I'm very pleased to hear such a sweet comment from you! Thank you!
DeleteThis is such an elegant coat! Congratulation, you always impress me with your amazing style and beautifully-made garments. Bye.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Pauline! I like your lovely fishion style too!
Deletebonjour, votre réalisation est magnifique
ReplyDeleteserait-il possible d'avoir le patron et/ou le tuto, svp, merci?
Cordialement
I don't understand French at all so I asked my friend a translation:)
DeleteUnfortunately this is not a commercial pattern but self-drafted one. Drafting tutorial of this coat isn't available either at this moment. Maybe one day, I hope.. Thank you!
